I am pretty versed in UK punk, especially stuff from the late 70's and early 80's, so it came as quite a surprise when the neck blew my head in with this little obscurity. From 1979, featuring non other than slimy Radio One DJ Mike Read!!, this one will buzz around your head for days. Take note of the weird noise that comes in halfway through.... no idea what instrument it is ... or why... but it's genius.

I can imagine Mike Read playing by the rules of the tower block..keeping his hi-fi turned down to a reasonable level and resisting the urge to slap his girlfriend for the sole reason he might get caught when the neighbours hear it through the walls and report him to the filth......to a follower of Jilted John and a former trainspotter this is a fine discovery.
He used to use this as a jingle as well:
'Mike Read, Mike Read, 275 & 285, Mike Read, Mike Read, National Radio 1'
Sad but true.
