Rikki Ililonga

More long lost classic Zambian psych has been made available by our friends at Stones Throw records. A staggering triple LP. Can't believe how much great stuff is being unearthed right now from there......

London Bombers

Big fan of the London Train Bomber scene. From way back when FUME< DIET and RATE used to own West London trains. Been gone a long time, but I'm still feeling the whole train explosion... check this 4 car frenzzzzy.

I can't hang with the Au Pairs for the most part...even though they are 'seminal'... too scratchy... too...uh, post punk. But this tracK? soooooo good. Lee put it on a mixtape a million years ago and it's still a fave...

This vid is a year old now...so I'm late to the game. Heard an epic recut of GZA's '4th Chamber' by this guy and Maggot Mouf that I'll try and dig up.... this is from his most recent LP.

Beantown Hero

I don't know if the whole 10 minutes of this is worth it (we know the story), but the Jonathan Richman introduction is pretty funny...

Toshio Saeki

I was hitting up a show at 111 Minna for Mike and Gabe and peeped the other show that was on at the same time by Toshio Saeki - Japan's weird erotic artist. Kinda creepy but I was feeling it... up for another few days - plenty of pics at the Minna site too...

We rolled out to see Watain last night - crazy shit.

Watain - Sworn To The Dark Live @ Armageddon Festival 2010 from Alex York on Vimeo.

Their new LP 'Lawless darkness' is a flawless piece of Black Metal. The triple LP packaging is insane too....

Anti System

Anti System were an anarcho band from the UK who were around in the early 80's. They released 12", LP and 7" before imploding. Not before a couple of them were banged up for animal rights activities. Their catalogue has just been reissued and is worth tracking down if you dig Conflict and Icons Of Filth..,,,, This is the sound of my youth....

The Left

Haven't listened to the whole record, but what I have heard sounds like pretty solid hip hop from Detroit.

more 90's goods - along with the Bells this track had the E heads fizzin'....

The Bells

Not very up to date as this tracks is 15 years old....but it still gives me the chills..... I saw Jeff Mills a lot in the 90's and everytime he dropped this the kids lost their shit.......

Lunatic Dolphin was suppoed to post this up...but he's laggin'. Freedy Madball's new rap video...

Red Red Red

Just got the LP called 'New Action' by Red Red Red. I didn't know shit about the band but I threw the sucker on and got my ears battered by some fucked up garage rock. Gotta be midwest. Chicago? Kinda has a more fucked up Baseball Furies sound... wait... Detroit... Clone Defects? Piranhas??... ok... internet search. Bingo. Drummer of the Piranhas plays geetar... Feeling it. Like the MC5 on acid. Feedback drenched garage punk..... Good. Shit.

Stumbled into this clip at WFMU. It's good and stupid.

Gavin Watson II

Out mate Gavin Watson has a new exhibition this week featuring more pics of Neville..... good shit as always....

Giovanni Marks/Subtitle

Subtitle (who I was introduced to as a guest rapper on an old Islands record) has some free electronic instrumentals here. I prefer to listen to him rap 'cause he sounds a little like Sir Mix-A-Lot. He also has a pretty interesting blog from which I poached this advert:

Heard him originally:

Burnt Ones

Who's been listening to T-Rex then???

Henry Rollins is bourgeois/hates hipsters

Henry was in the East Village just flipping through some records with a Iranian exile (as you would) and wouldn't you know it, he got noticed.

:40 mark is when Henry turns on the charm.

Outlaw's Demos

One my favorite collections of outlaw country (right up there with Folsom Prison, etc.) just came out about five year's ago on Sugar Hill Records: Willie Nelson - Crazy: The Demo Sessions. Recorded in the early sixties, the record's full of unadulterated gems. It's as good as the Elvis At Sun record that came out about the same time.

Been rocking a lot of Outlaw country recently..... Waylon is top of the pile right now..
