Easy E

For some reason I have always been a fan of the most crazed and mysoginistic of NWA... EASY MOTHERFUCKIN E. I've had his songs in my head all weekend for some reason....

One Gear No Idea

Most of know some of the writers' fascination with Fixed Gear bikes... here is a video of Chris Akrigg, a rider known for trails riding documenting his first week on a track bike... pretty ripping dontcha think??

Millwall Vs West Ham

Interesting that I posted a football violence clip a couple of days ago then it kicked off at Upton park that night. as the 4 Skins said 'we don't condone violence...we just sing about it'...

Big Cities

I talked Brooksy and the YOUNG OFFENDERS boys into doing an "official" music video for 'Big Cities' off the split 12" they did with Giant Haystacks. Took us some months and a lot of headaches to get it done, but it's f*cking epic. Or maybe I'm just biased.

B&M doesn't seem to accommodate 16x9 so click the image and watch it directly from Vimeo.

Or if you prefer YouTube it's there too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDKbSTRZ1-c

Beatbox Dub FX

We don't have much to do with beatboxing here, but this shit is rad.....

Corrosion Of Conformity

When I was a lad crossover was the buzz word... every punk was growing their hair listening to metal. A lot of it was shit, but some bands managed to meld the speed of metal with the aggression of punk.... case in point... early COC. hailing from North Carolina the band always sounded a little twisted... I can't hang with their later gear, but the early stuff rages....

Real Football Factory

We were just talking about Among The Thugs and football hooligans at work...so I figured I'd post up a bit of the Real Football Factory...

Waits

I consider Tom Waits to be one of the world's coolest nutcases. NPR has a 2-hour concert of Waits' from Atlanta's Fox Theater, the last stop on last summer's PEHDTSCKJMBA tour. Worth a listen (click the photo).

Also, check out this awesome press conference:

Thnaks to our pal Sean at Cyclezine.net, I have been battering the new LP by the band We Were Promised Jetpacks. Cut from the same cloth as Frightened Rabbit or a more rocking King Creosote, these Scots are proud of their roots and sing in heavy accents over sublime Indie Rock... I'm feeling it. SF heads... if you don't have a Frightened Rabbit ticket for September you are shit out of luck!

Screaming Females

I was turned on to the Screamin Females by the wonderful Razorcake magazine. There's something really weird about their sound... which I dig. The singer/guitar player is like this crazy guitar viruoso, laying down sick solos and shit. The rest of their sound is kinda blown out Sleater Kinney or something. Fascinating stuff... here's a sweet little doc about them ...

Redskins

Pretty underrated in my book, the Redskins were a great punk/soul group who's extreme leftie politics were a bit much for some., They toured a lot with Billy Bragg in support of the striking miners amongst other things.... their LP is marvelous..

Banned - Better Off Dead

There's few things we like more than watching folks hurl themselves downstairs to a punk rock soundtrack. In this case BMX and one of my all time fave tracks Cock Sparrer's 'Runnin Riot'. Thanks to Ed Slum for the link....

SF's DOOMED!!!

San Francisco heads should come to the Knockout tonight for night 2 of the SF's Doomed fest which is a benefit for Maximumrocknroll magazine and a new all ages show space in the city.... which we need. Badly... Come and show support. Head over to Maximumrocknroll to get info on the rest of the fest...

Section 13

Back in the late 80's I was a huge fan of the melodic bands that came out of Leamington Spa in the Midlands, Joyce McKinney Experience, Bad Beach and especially the Depraved (who later morphed into Visions Of Change). I was stoked to find out that the singer Ian has a new band called Section 13 who are really fucking good.... Their new CD is out on Boss Tuneage Records.

Lego

Sorry for the lack of psts the past few days.... too busy at Legoland...

Tubeway Army

I'm pretty sure our man Allan did a Tubeway Army post a while back, but I just got the double EP pack with Bombers which si so killer. I can't believe how fucking weird they were, and totally mainstream popular....weird. Good shit...esp the B side of Bombers...'blue eyes'...so good.... Here's another classic..

Gorilla Biscuits in London...1989.

On the 8th November 1989 Gorilla Biscuits played at The Fulham Greyhound near Hammersmith in London....the pub long ago became a generic chain "pub" but in the late 80's and early 90's it was one of the London venues for cool tunes....
This is part one of the gig which i recorded on my walkman, one of the most memorable shows i have ever been to!
The sound is pretty good considering, i have cleaned it up a bit but sounds pretty good to me. First few minutes are slightly glitchy but stick with it........

And a quick burst of Youth of Today when they played down at S.O.A.S. in London in March of the same year.....Tim was there too, way before i knew him....heckling the band by all accounts.

THE EQUALS - She Lives For Today

THE EQUALS - Hang Up My Rock & Roll Shoes / She Lives For Today (President 1974)
You probably know the Equals as the 60s Northern Soul band with such hits as Baby Come Back and Hold Me Closer. However, different incarnations of the band lasted years after Eddy Grant left in 1971. The B side of this record showcases a killer Glam jam written by the twin brothers Derv and Lincoln Gordon and produced surprisingly by...Eddy Grant. Who knew?

The Equals - She Lives for Today

Never Healed

One of the Bricks And Mortar crew plays in this band.... so favoritism aside this band rip. They are playing part of the 'SF Doomed' fest next week (more on that later). I love bands that go nuts with intimidating frontmen...
